Projected activities:
Dance piece with original acoustic and electronic music accompaniment by Hideko Kawamoto. Elina Mooney and Cliff Keuter, from the ASU Dept. of Dance, will choreograph the work. The work will be included in the Center Dance Company's programs scheduled for March 7-10 at the Herberger Theatre Center in downtown Phoenix.
Preliminary research on piece for conductor and virtual orchestra using existing technology in the Electronic Music labs in the School of Music.
Initial contact and contracting of major composers for future commissions.
Call for compositions. In developing repertoire that meets the agenda of the ISA and the ensemble, a call for compositions program will offer a wide range of materials from which to draw. Young and emerging composers will be encouraged to submit works for consideration.
Reading session. Student and faculty composers will be invited to compose works for the ensemble. A reading session will be scheduled and facilitated to allow for feedback and experimentation. Interaction with student and emerging composers will be a fundamental mission of the ensemble.
Explore the use of telematic technology with ISA staff members John Mitchell and Todd Ingalls. Preliminary discussions have centered around the commission of a multi-site antiphonal work for multiple groups. Initial research may involve solo instruments in multiple sites.
Three local concerts will be presented in the initial season.
