Pressure Sensitive Floor - prototype 1

back to pressure sensitive floor home
The 4' x 4' prototype floor sensor developed at ISA has many features that are not available on earlier systems. It has a 2.4” sensor resolution in both x and y directions to allow visualization of pressure distribution under the feet. In 'Live Display' mode, the system presents the data as a 3D surface graph with color modulation for improved clarity. The software developed has a 'Record mode' for saving each sensor's value and a time stamp in a standard comma delimited file. 'Playback mode' lets a user replay a previously recorded session.

A Max/MSP/Jitter patch is used with a G4 to display activity in a 2d intensity graph. Mapping the sensors with a multimedia module is also possible here.

The prototype was demonstrated in May 2003 in a presentation that highlighted all the features explained above.
