sacrilloymfor solo cello1999Two words comprise sacrilloym, 'scrim' and 'alloy.' The manner in which these two entities are overlapped to form a new structure is analogous to the musical means used to drive the piece. Multiple layers of harmony, timbre, and rhythm are independently and simultaneously unfolding and developing, and are even notated discreetly, but at the heart of the work is a the rich composite soundscape created from their overlap. 'scrim' and 'alloy' are words which point to the veiling and distorting of the independent layers. However, 'sacrilloym' asserts itself as a whole new entity, apart from the means of its construction. sacrilloym was completed in November, 1999.
