K-12 Mediated Education seeks solutions to obstacles that limit the ability of schools to develop comprehensive approaches to the use of digital media arts and to develop meaningful metrics of assessment. Our project takes a holistic approach to addressing these challenges through empirical research and direct interaction with media experts, students, artists, educators, and policy makers. Pressure Sensitive Floor - We have designed a high-resolution pressure sensing floor with a sensor density of one sensor per square centimeter that can provide real-time information about the location of the performer on the floor as well as the amount of pressure being exerted on the floor. The large area sensor provides a 10mm X 10mm spatial resolution @ 30-40Hz. (Project co-director)

Genetic algorithm for the evolution of intelligent musical structures

Neural network model for extraction of harmonic features from input pitch-classes. The model determines which chords and keys are represented, and makes predictions about upcoming musical events based on what it has 'heard' in the past.

JPMorganChase Kids Digital Movement and Sound Project

Project explores the uses of interactive technologies in music and dance. For the project we developed interactive music software for live performance by children, and worked with children to refine the software and develop multimedia performance works.
