Digital Rainstick
|
This project involves the design and creation of the digital rainstick, a composed instrument. A traditional instrument that is augmented
with pressure sensors and a tilt switch. A generative mechanism is implemented in software to transform the function
and output of the instrument over the duration of the performance of a piece.

Still Life with Latex is performed by a solo percussionist with a number of visual/dramatic elements as accompaniment. Not only does the percussionist play drums, and
metals, and other percussive instruments, but he or she must sing and play harmonica and
perform with balloons. This recording is from a live performance in Miller Theater, NYC by
Gregory Beyer. This piece was completed in 1998.

Music's Voice
is a setting of Conrad Aiken's poem, "What Music's Devious Voice Can Say."
It was written in 1995 and is scored for high voice and percussion. This recording is from a
live performance at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music with myself
playing percussion.
